Fat Burners
Excess body fat can lead to any number of disastrous medical
conditions, including coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes
and osteoarthritis. Cutting down excess body fat is always
a good idea, and it is never to late (or too early) to start.
Fortunately, bodybuilding is an amazing way to not only lose
fat through exercise, but keep it off permanently due to the
way increasing your lean muscle mass also increases your base
metabolic rate, allowing you to constantly burn calories faster.
Even while you are asleep!
In the past, many so-called fat loss pills were sold alongside
false promises, with no substantial evidence to back up their
claims. The fat loss supplements we recommend as part of a
well-rounded weightlifting programme are something different.
They are scientific formulas designed to work in harmony with
your body in order to get the most out of your hard training,
and thereby lose fat faster and in a safe way.
Fat burners can work in a variety of ways. Some increase
your metabolism and therefore the rate that you are burning
calories. Other suppress your appetite or reduce excess storage
of water. Yet another kind of fat loss product literally burns
fat to produce heat energy in a process called thermogenesis.
Here is a brief overview of some of the active ingredients
most commonly used in fat burners, and their effects:
Conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA, is a fatty acid that occurs
naturally in the body, where it limits the amount of fat that
is stored after a meal, and promotes the breakdown of fat
during exercise. Studies show that CLA is an affective factor
in reducing body fat levels.
L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid synthesized from
phenylalanine in the body. It is the precursor to several
neurotransmitters, including adrenaline, and consequently
has been shown to increase metabolic rate, burning calories
faster.
Green tea extract is a particularly good fat burner because
of its other additional health benefits. It contains substances
called polyphenols (particularly the polyphenol Epigallocatachin,
also known as EGCG), which release energy from stored body
fat in the form of heat. Green tea also contains vitamins
and minerals, as well as caffeine which stimulates the metabolism.
In addition to its thermogenic properties, green tea extract
has been found to reduce cholesterol, boost your immune system,
improve general cardiovascular health and even act as an anti-cancer
agent. This is one supplement that should be a part of your
daily nutrition programme whether you are bodybuilding or
not.
Chromium, also identified as chromium picolinate, is an
essential mineral that helps regulate fat and carbohydrate
metabolism to maintain normal blood sugar levels, a crucial
factor in controlling weight and promoting a beneficial environment
for new muscle synthesis.
Bitter orange, or citrus aurantium, is a natural stimulant
used to increase metabolic rate and suppress appetite. It
is often combined with caffeine and St Johns Wort for maximum
effectiveness.
Guarana extract includes both the stimulant caffeine, and
a substance called theobromine, which also reduces appetite
and increases weight loss.
Cayenne pepper is another natural thermogenic that melts
fat away and releases the energy as heat. It also increases
the breakdown of fat and carbohydrates, and stimulates the
nervous system in a way that is known to suppress appetite.
L-Carnitine is produced naturally in the body from the two
amino acids lysine and methionine. It is essential in the
processes that break down both fat and carbohydrate, and studies
show that supplementing the amount naturally found in the
body can improve both of those processes and therefore aid
in fat loss.
Guggulsterones, specificaly Z and E Guggulsterone, are purified
from the sap of the Guggul tree, and act to stimulate the
thyroid gland, thereby increasing metabolic rate and allowing
you to burn more fat throughout the day, even when you are
resting.
Sida Cordifolia is a herbal supplement that assists fat loss
by stimulating the central nervous system, and also has diuretic
properties that help to reduce excess water weight and limit
water retention.
Fat burners that work as appetite suppressants are best taken
around an hour before mealtimes. Stimulants and thermogenics
work best if used around half an hour before exercising, and
stimulants should not be taken within 4 hours of your usual
bedtime, because a good nights sleep is as important as any
other aspect of a good bodybuilding routine.
Fat burners are an excellent way to safely and naturally
assist you in your goal of losing body fat while gaining lean
muscle mass, which is by far the healthiest and most effective
way to lose weight and keep it off, and to transform your
whole body shape in a positive fashion.
